Catappa Bark

Ā

We are excited to offer pieces of bark from the Terminalia catappa! This natural bark looks great in the aquarium and provides many benefits to aquatic animals and plants.Ā

Ā Ā

The Catappa Tree (Terminalia catappa) is a large tropicalĀ tree in the leadwood tree family & provides many healthy additions to your aquarium. ItsĀ bark, like its leaves and fruits, provides many healthy benefits to your tank. It has antibacterial properties that are beneficial to fish and invertebarates, especially when newly introduced.

FromĀ providing a supplemental food source to providing tannins and humic acids to the tank, the bark can also support slime coat productionĀ and help prevent infections. Furthermore, it provides more surface area for animals such as shrimp without having to increase the tank size. In the nano aquarium, a variety of invertebrates (such as shrimp, snails, crabs, and crayfish) and fish will greatly appreciate the refuge of Catappa Bark as well as the natural benefits that it offers. Catappa Bark is very useful with fish that thrive in blackwater and acidic habitats, such as Discus and Bettas.Ā

OurĀ Catappa Bark is sourced from 100% pesticide and chemical-free areas and is safe to add directly to the aquarium.Ā This bark can be allowed to fully decompose in the aquarium. We recommend that it be added sparingly at first in order to ensure no drastic changes in water parameters or excessive tanning of water.

Our Catappa Bark packs includeĀ 5 pieces of barkĀ measuring 4-7.5 inchesĀ (10-19 cm).

Ā

We offer Catappa Leaves and Catappa Fruits as well!Ā
