This larger floating plant is commonly used in ponds, but it is also very useful for providing shaded areas in the aquarium!

***These plants were grown here at Aquatic Arts!***

Amazon Frogbit (Limnobium laevigatum) is a Central and South American floating plant that is commonly used in ponds, but it is also very useful in the aquarium. It is much larger than many other floating aquarium plants, so it is an excellent option for providing shade and cover for more reclusive species. Its leaves are very lily-like and will float at the water's surface, which can also be very useful for small semi-aquatic animals in terrariums and paludariums. This particular variety grows to 3-4 inches (7.5-10 cm) per pod.

Care is extremely easy for Amazon Frogbit. Since it is a floating plant, it does not require planting in the substrate. Its leaves can grow to a massive size, so it often needs to be thinned out to allow light and oxygen to reach the rest of the aquarium. It can withstand wide temperature range and has very few specialized requirements other than that the top of the plant should not be submerged or else it will rot. It does not require CO2 supplementation.

Like most plants, Amazon Frogbit will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, nitrogen, iron, and other plant supplements.

No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We can not guarantee our plants will be snail free.
